We’re proud to share that Carolina Custom Surfaces was recently featured in the Summer 2026 issue of ISFA’s Fabricators’ Edge magazine. The article, titled “Cutting Advanced Surfaces: A Multi-Faceted Approach,” was written by James Careless and appears in the magazine’s Material Mastery column.
The piece spotlights how our team approaches some of the most technically demanding materials in the industry today, including large-format porcelain panels, natural quartzites, and ultra-compact surfaces like Dekton. Our president Joe Duszka, along with plant manager John Gardner, production manager Bart Misiak, lead programmer Michael Duszka, and tooling and maintenance manager Tyler Tereman all contributed to the article.
A few of the things we cover in the feature:
- Why advanced materials like porcelain and ultra-compact surfaces require a completely different approach than standard stone fabrication
- How we select tooling based on material composition, cut type, and machine capability
- The systems we’ve built to ensure consistent, precise cuts across the entire team
- How we train new team members and maintain high standards as materials and best practices evolve
We’ve been doing this work for over 30 years, and it’s rewarding to see the day-to-day discipline our team brings to the shop floor recognized on a national level. Being included in ISFA’s Material Mastery column alongside some of the top fabricators in the country means a lot to us.
